Nuts Nissim's NFL Picks Week 6
Hope we don't see anymore of those throwback uniforms this season.
Detroit at Green Bay
Lions have lost last 18 games to the Packers in Wisconsin, starting with a 38-10 loss at Milwaukee's County Stadium in December 1992.
Green Bay
NY Giants at New Orleans
It will be a family event as Eli Manning makes his first pro appearance in the Louisiana Superdome, where his father, Archie, starred with the Saints. Saints TE Jeremy Shockey, who played six seasons with the Giants, will be playing against them for the first time since being traded in 2008. Giants are 5-0; Saints 4-0. Someone has to lose this week. And if you've been following my picks, you already know who I'm calling in this one.
Giants
Cleveland at Pittsburgh
Steelers hold narrow edge in all-time series, but have won 11 in a row against Browns, 17 of 18 since 2000 and 24 of 27 since 1993. Browns ended a 10-game losing streak by beating Bills 6-3 last week. Oh yeah, that was a big offensive game.
Pittsburgh
Houston at Cincinnati
Texans QB Matt Schaub ranks third in NFL with 1,418 yards passing and is second with 10 TD passes. Schaub had a big day in the 35-6 win over the Bengals in Houston last year, going 24 of 28 for 280 yards with three TDs. But that was in Houston. Each of Cincinnati's five games has been decided in the final 22 seconds. So don't bother watching until the last 2 minutes or so. Kind of like college basketball during March Madness.
Cincinnati
Kansas City at Washington
Both the Chiefs and the Redskins are coming off losses last week. No Chiefs team has ever started 0-6. Until now. Redskins defense is 4th overall. Chiefs got nothin'.
Washington
Carolina at Tampa Bay
Wow, FINALLY the Panthers won a game! Maybe they're starting a winning streak while The Buccs will continue to lose.
Panthers
St. Louis at Jacksonville
The Rams are the lowest scoring team so far only racking up 34 points so far. QB Marc Bulger returns after missing previous two games because of a bruised rotator cuff. Jaguars have to make up for their shutout at Seattle. Ouch. Going for the home team here.
Jacksonville
Baltimore at Minnesota
The Poe Boys are 8-3 on the road under coach John Harbaugh. Vikings QB Brett Favre is the 12th QB age 40 or older to start a game since 1966. Man should be getting a bit tired.
Baltimore
Arizona at Seattle
Cardinals QB Kurt Warner, in his 114th career game, needs 244 yards passing to reach 30,000. He would tie Dan Marino as the fastest in NFL history to reach that mark. Seahawks QB Matt Hasselbeck (ribs) has seven TD throws in the only two games he's been healthy enough to finish this season. Those are Seattle's only wins. Seahawks are tied with Dallas and the New York Giants for the best record in games immediately before a bye, at 16-4. OK.
Seattle
Philadelphia at Oakland
This is the second time these teams have played in Oakland, with the Raiders winning both of the previous meetings, in 1971 and 1995. Raiders QB JaMarcus Russell has more INTs than completions on passes that go at least 21 yards downfield. So much for Hail Mary plays.
Philadelphia
Buffalo at NY Jets
A win by the Bills this week would be 350th in franchise history, making them seventh NFL team to reach mark. Jets are 5 for 5 on fourth downs.
New York Jets
Tennessee at New England
Titans have lost three games by seven points or less, while the Patriots have won two by six or less. The Pats have forced at least one turnover in 13 straight games but have just two interceptions this season. Think this one might be close.
New England
Chicago at Atlanta
Falcons coach Mike Smith is 9-1 at the Georgia Dome, with his only loss at the Georgia Dome coming against the Jay Cutler-led Denver Broncos last season. Falcons QB Matt Ryan threw for a career-high 329 yards against San Francisco last week, including 210 yards and two touchdowns to Roddy White. And that was a game the Niners were supposed to win.
Atlanta
Denver at San Diego
The Broncos are 5-0 for the first time since 1998, when they won their last Super Bowl with Hall of Famer John Elway. The Chargers are 2-0 under Norv Turner after byes. The Broncos are tired after their OT win over the Pats. San Diego is charged up after their week off.
San Diego
